International Student Checklist
The following is a Step by Step process for International students that want to pursue a Commercial Pilot Certification.
- Apply to Aviation Atlanta, Inc. for admission to flight school using the Enrollment Form.
- Deposit $1000 U.S. dollars on to the student’s account held at Aviation Atlanta, Inc. Deposits can be made in the following fashion: (a.) credit card, we accept Visa, Master Card, Discover, and American Express cards. (b.) cashier’s check or money order express shipped to our office. (c.) wire transfer into Aviation Atlanta’s account. If you choose to wire transfer the funds, you should review the wiring instructions page on our site. Additionally, this process takes 7 to 10 business days for international wires. If you choose to pay via Credit Card you may send us an e-mail at office@aviationatlanta.com and include all your information. Full Name, Address, Date of birth, Nationality, Citizenship, and telephone number. If the students does not come for any reason $600.00 of the deposit will be refunded. Provide Aviation Atlanta, Inc with Proof that the student has the available funds to pay for the course. Example: a bank statement.
- Once this is provided to Aviation Atlanta, Inc. We will ship a letter of acceptance and an I-20 to the student. He/ She will take this to the U.S. embassy and receive their M1 student visa. THERE WILL BE A CLASS START DATE ON YOUR I-20 – YOU CANNOT ARRIVE ANY EARLIER THAN 30 DAYS BEFORE THAT DATE.
- Go to www.fmjfee.com and pay the fee for the issuance of an M1. This fee is $100 and is not included in the course price.
- When the student has the M1 student visa they will provide Aviation Atlanta, Inc. with an arrival date for school. The Student will then deposit $2800 U.S. dollars for housing cost, onto their Aviation Atlanta, Inc. account. This is required 30 days before the student arrives. Classes start the 15 of each month – so the students will need to plan ahead. Once housing is paid this part is not refunded.
- Upon arrival in Atlanta, GA, a representative of Aviation Atlanta, Inc. will pick them up at the Atlanta International Airport and take him/her to their dorm room. Each student must arrive Monday – Friday between 9am and 4pm for this pickup service.
- Aviation Atlanta, Inc. will provide TSA approval which normally takes 3 business days. Once approval is granted the student will start training. He/she will at this point deposit $20,100. U.S. dollars of their tuition, on to their Aviation Atlanta, Inc. account. Once the student’s funds get down to $2000.00 U.S. dollars the student will be required to deposit $20,100. U.S. dollars onto his account. If the deposit is not made at the $2000.00 point, all training will cease until the proper deposit is made.
- Training will start with ground school and flight training. The student will be assigned to a Flight Instructor.
- Each student is required to be at school 5 days per week with 1 flights taken per day. ( weather allowing).
- After the student has completed the Private Pilot License he will then deposit the remaining balance due onto the student’s account at Aviation Atlanta, Inc.
- Student will start instrument training within 2 days of completing his private pilot license. Student must attend school 5 days per week taking 1 flights per day; weather permitting.
- Upon completion of the instrument rating he will start on the commercial pilot license – time building and meeting the x-country requirements for the FAA and DGCA commercial license.
- When the student has logged 215 hours he will start training for the commercial pilot license for the single engine and multi engine course. He will receive 10 hours in the single and 25 hours in the twin engine airplane.
Once all the training is complete, he will graduate from the commercial pilot course with 250 hours, Private Pilot, Instrument, Commercial Pilot, and Multi-engine license.
If the student needs extra time to complete the training he will need to pay for that time in blocks of $2000. Once the student has completed any additional training any funds still on account will be refunded to the student at that time.
*** NOTE *** TSA approval can be done while still in the student’s home country. The problem is that there are not many TSA approved places for the finger print portion of the approval process; therefore the student may choose to start this once they arrive at Aviation Atlanta, Inc.
